Abstract

The reflections presented in this article refer to research on the convergence of Morin's complexity and Paulo Freire's critical-dialogical awareness-raising praxis. To demonstrate such convergence, from European Humanism, we consider the formation process of the Modern era and its influences on the formation of the world and the contemporary subject, tracing the contribution of Morin and Freire's thought as a critical proposal to the Modernity principles. To the biopsychic, social subject involved in the webs of cultural meanings, a complex and dialogical being situated in historical time and space, we point out the dialogic education that raises awareness of complexity as a possibility of promoting life in abundance and ethics, with a view to creating a new planetary consciousness in the 21st century. With the methodology of bibliographic and documental research, we seek to answer how the thought of Morin and Paulo Freire converge to support a new perspective for education in the contemporary world. Education under the perspective of dialogue about complexity contributes to the emergence of an awareness committed to respecting the Planet, human life and valuing diversity, assuming new perspectives in the commitment to building a solidary global citizenship. The results show that the convergence between complexity and dialogical-awareness education takes place through the possibilities of approaching reality as being irreducible to any pretense of absolute certainty on the part of human knowledge and through the converging alternative of complexity and dialogue for the education of the century XXI, in view of the principles of Modernity.
