Abstract

This article explores the impact of artificial intelligence on the research and teaching of history. We analyze the perceptions of 69 undergraduate students based on their responses to the form 'Artificial Intelligence and History Teaching: Teacher Training and Teaching Practices,' applied between March and October 2023. This text presents a substantial part of the results of postdoctoral research in Education within the Graduate Program in Education at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, Três Lagoas campus. Our goal is to problematize the students' responses regarding the risks and possibilities promoted by the automation of activities and productions of the historian, both in teaching and historiography. The analyses of the respondents' perceptions are based on interdisciplinary bibliography, criticism of materials produced by UNESCO, and legislation addressing the uses and abuses of artificial intelligence technologies.
