Los materiales como posibilidad de un tercer espacio productor de interculturalidad en la Universidad Intercultural del Estado de Hidalgo (UICEH)

Abstract

The Universidad Intercultural del Estado de Hidalgo (UICEH) was founded in 2012 and is located in the municipality of Tenango de Doria Hidalgo in Mexico. Within the model of intercultural universities that governs these Intercultural Universities (UIS) it is established that this type of Institutions must incorporate the knowledge of the indigenous communities where they affect, in this case the UICEH located in the Otomí-Tepehua Region task of producing different materials that incorporate both indigenous and western knowledge. In this tenor, this article presents the results of an investigation of a material entitled: “Dialogue of knowledge. Indigenous communities and university students”, whose main objective is to analyze how through the material of “Dialogue of knowledge, indigenous communities and university students” a third space was built to produce interculturalities for UICEH students. For the elaboration of this investigation, the methodologies used were the digital ethnography and the double reflexivity.
Among some of the results obtained, it was found that the students lived processes of reflexivity in the production of this material, which allowed them to form an interculturality from the knowledge of their territories, but linked to university knowledge, thus establishing “living dialogues” and positioning itself ethically and politically. Furthermore, this experience of producing materials as a “third space producer of reflexivities and interculturalities” could be a way to generate “third comfortable spaces” for UICEH students to learn to negotiate diverse learning and reflexivities, especially those linked to recover community and indigenous knowledge.
