Abstract

This article aims to analyze the productions of Fr. Leonel Franca SJ, in favor of Catholic culture in the periodicals Brotéria and the Revista Portuguesa de Filosofia in Portugal, in the 1930s and 1940s. This approach was anchored in Certeau (2008), by highlighting a set of strategies devised to engage intellectuals (ecclesiastics and laypeople) in the defense of fundamental issues to the Catholic Church's status quo. In this sense, the presence of the intellectual Fr. Leonel Franca S.J., in the editorial field has a significant expression in the advances of Catholic institutions and letters in the socio-political-cultural field in Brazil. When inquiring about the intrinsic relationship of national and international Catholic journals, it makes it possible to contact a network of sociability that strengthens the presence of Catholic culture. The methodology addressed in the investigation favors the analysis of Portuguese Jesuit journals, on Portuguese / Brazilian documentary production.
