This research aims to analyse how the just transition and the ODS 7 are connected, focusing the investigation on the content of the European Green Deal Investment Plan and the Just Transition Mechanism, since these integrates the documents which establishes the funding bases of the European Green Deal in achieving its decarbonisation goals and economic transformation. This study is justified by the need to understand the relationship between the achievement of SDG 7 and the just transition in the context of the EU. The adopted methodology was exploratory-descriptive, based on bibliographical and documentary analysis of articles, reports, etc. In conclusion, financing a just transition in the EU directly contributes to the achievement of SDG 7 and the promotion of sustainable energy development, considering that it addresses the socioeconomic issues arising from the energy transition, seeking to contain the advancement of inequalities and facilitate the adaptation of territories and protected regions, contemplating the transition precisely as one of the pillars of the decarbonization process of the energy sector.
