Abstract

This paper takes as its guideline a fundamental question: what does it mean to view philosophy from the standpoint of an affirmable and sustainable life? On the basis of this question, it examines the nature of the philosophical alternative proposed by Nietzsche to the asceticism entrenched at the core of Western philosophy, the authority with which this alternative is enunciated, as well as the relationship between this alternative and the asceticism it radically criticizes.
