Merleau-Ponty e o fisicalismo

Resumo


Neste artigo, discutimos o posicionamento de Merleau-Ponty em relação ao fisicalismo, entendido enquanto a tese segundo a qual tudo o que existe no mundo espaçotemporal é físico. Buscamos mostrar que ele não nega o fisicalismo, tal como aqui entendido, mas sim outras teses que compõem uma perspectiva naturalista mais geral (da qual o fisicalismo é parte), a que chamaremos de Visão Naturalista do Mundo. De forma a alcançar o nosso objetivo, consideramos a noção de reversibilidade em Merleau-Ponty e, a partir dela, mostrarmos como o corpo humano pode ser considerado, ao mesmo tempo, tanto um objeto submetido às leis físicas quanto sujeito de ações intencionais.
