Environmental corporate compliance as an instrument of concretization of the human rights

The present article, based on the deductive method, examines the origin, concepts and models of compliance as a mechanism of self-regulation of companies, focuses on the idea of ethics of conviction and ethics of responsibility and advances to deal specifically with environmental corporate compliance, discussing its opportunities and dilemmas regarding its usefulness in protecting the environment. For that, a bibliographic research was conducted which, besides supporting the considerations made about the institute of compliance, including environmental compliance, confirmed the nature of human right of the right to an ecologically balanced environment, as well as its efficacy in private relations. Finally, it is concluded that corporate environmental compliance emerges as a valuable instrument of concretization of the fundamental human right to an ecologically balanced environment, resulting in the confirmation of the hypothesis raised. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that environmental compliance presents itself as an important opportunity for corporations to fulfill their ethical commitments and their constitutional and global duty regarding environmental preservation.
