Abstract

Félix Guattari traveled to Brazil several times. In 1985, he left the mainstream Brazilian academic circuit and went to Belém do Pará, in the North of the country. The aim of this article is to discuss the arrival of Félix Guattari to Belém do Pará, in 1985. As a method, we use Oral and Cultural History to describe and analyze the resonances of this arrival. We analyzed oral sources and newspaper records that could present passages of the Guattari event, in Belém. We found that the invitation to Guattari was made by professors related to Psychoanalysis who had political and critical readings. Félix gave two lectures: “Social Movements and Political Parties” and “Desire and Politics”, in an auditorium of a hotel in the city. After this passage, countless inflections were produced and resonances generated in training in Psychoanalysis, in Psychology, in the Arts, in Culture and in political resistance, in “City of Mangroves”.
