Abstract

This article aims to address the issue of image in the philosophy of Hans Jonas in order to understand the role that the imaginative capacity plays in the phenomenological experience of apprehending reality. The investigation of the relationship between image and human perception in Jonas’ thought proves to be fruitful as the theme of image has a significant role in his philosophy, as it is precisely in the ability to create images and recognize them as representations of the real that lies the anthropological difference in relation to other animals.
