Abstract

The article discusses the work of Rita Segato and Sayak Valencia on violence within the context of neoliberal capitalism and colonial modernity. It analyses the terrible consequences of male socialization through the masculinity mandate, especially in peripheral economic countries such as Latin America, where the poor distribution of wealth and the precariousness of work lead thousands of young people eager to participate in consumer society to 'work' for criminal organizations.
