Abstract

The article presented here is motivated by the Jubilee of 2025 and by the intentions raised by Pope Francis in his proclamation of this Jubilee Year, calling on everyone to be pilgrims of hope. In this way, our objective is to reflect on this path and point out the challenges and socio-pastoral implications arising from this way of hoping, conditions proper for a Church that is prophetic and understands itself as going forth and synodal. Methodologically, we will follow bibliographic research, attentive to recent Catholic teaching and the contribution of authors, so that, in a qualitative, dialectical, and critical way, we can move forward with our contribution. We will divide our article into three parts: first, we will address the invitation to hope and the call to understand the times in which we are living. After that, we will address the challenges of hope, situations that come to us from society, and that compel us to understand profoundly the content of our hope, which is Christ, risen and crucified. Finally, we will discuss the prophetic nature of the Church, a characteristic required for this journey of hope. Understanding that the current context challenges us and that Christian hope offers paths of openness, welcoming this Jubilee Year places us in a position of service and of being agents of transformation, inspiring hope and supporting all those who can no longer wait.
