Editorial policy
Publication frequency
Revista Acadêmica Ciência Animal journal follows the continuous publication model; that is, the article approved will be published right after receiving the acceptance, no needing to wait the approval of other papers in order to close specific issues.
Occasionally, the journal may publish thematic and special issues within the same annual volume, which will be presented as supplements and whose works will undergo the same evaluation process as the other articles (n. Cont). In these cases, approved works will be published together.
Preprints
Studies should be original and should not have already been published elsewhere in the peer-reviewed literature. Manuscripts that have been deposited in preprints (arXiv, bioRxiv, EmeRI, SciELO, etc.) or institutional repositories are accepted.
Open access
Revista Acadêmica Ciência Animal journal follows the Open Access model, allowing unrestricted virtual access (including financial restrictions) to all scientific texts published by the journal.
Open access is the condition in which the copyright holder of an academic work grants usage rights to third parties using an open license (Creative Commons Attribution, CC-BY), allowing immediate free access to the work and authorizing any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose.
Following the principles of Open Science, the journal requires the precise indication of the contribution of each of the authors in articles with multiple authorship and recommends the sharing of data, methods, instruments and other additional materials, preferably made available in open online repositories (Figshare, Mandeley Data, OSF, SciELO Data, Zenodo).
Adoption of software and use of Artificial Intelligence resources
The journal Revista Acadêmica Ciência Animal does not support the use of chatbots or similar programas. When necessary, artificial intelligence should be used as a tool to assist with grammatical corrections and/or the preparation and management of references.
Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies should only be used in the writing process to improve readability and language of the work, once AI outputs can be incorrect, incomplete or biased.
Authors should disclose in their manuscript the use of AI and AI-assisted technologies and a statement will appear in the published work. Declaring the use of these technologies supports transparency and trust, and authors are ultimately responsible and accountable for the contents of the work.
