Abstract

Masculine language and symbolism dominate our altars and pulpits, highlighting an overvaluation of the divine masculine. Both images and theological language largely reflect the exclusive experiences of men, who have historically dominated the patriarchal system, relegating the rest of humanity to oblivion. This work seeks to reflect on the masculine symbol and language present in Trinitarian doctrine from a female perspective. Thus, the question arises: After all, does God have a gender? As simple as it may seem, this question involves a series of factors that need to be incorporated and analyzed to reach a satisfactory answer. The study's method is based on the qualitative analysis of the bibliography collected from available publications that address the proposed theme. The present project aims to identify, in theological discourse, a reflection on female reality from the masculinity attributed to God. In summary, the analysis found that, to this day, women remain faithful reproducers of a patriarchal religion, in which men exercise power. However, it is concluded that the role of procreating and the kindness of women do not exhaust their capabilities.
