DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF EVANGELICAL LEADERS: REVISITING THE LITERATURE
Abstract
Abstract
Domestic violence against women does not choose color, race, social class or even religion. In this way, women who are victims of violence find a means of refuge from this situation in religion/religiosity, seeking answers and guidance. In this context, religious leaders play an important role in dealing with cases of domestic violence, since they can contribute to both maintaining and eradicating cases. The aim of this study was to analyze evangelical leaders' views on domestic violence against women, based on the following research question: How do evangelical leaders position themselves and act in an interventional and dialogical way from the perspective of health education in the face of domestic violence against women? The theoretical framework was based on Brazil (2006), Brazil (2011), Vilhena (2009), Miranda (2018), among others. This was a literature review study, using data from the Capes Theses and Dissertations Catalog. Among the results, we highlight the lack of studies that address the role of religious leaders in dealing with situations of violence against women and, therefore, discussions on this topic.
