Abstract

In 2022, the CensoPsi showed that 20.1% of the participating psychologists work in the social area, with participation in the social area at a level close to that of the execution of the social protection and development work process. These data are significantly reflected by psychologists in public social assistance policy. Therefore, we highlight the importance of initial training in psychology that allows access to discussions and practices that contribute to work in this area. This work is the result of research that analyzes the training proposal set out in three Pedagogical Projects for Psychology Courses, belonging to the territory of Recôncavo da Bahia, with the aim of identifying how the curricula express the principles and guidelines recommended by the National Policy for Social Assistance and the National Permanent Education Policy in the Unified Social Assistance System - SUAS. It was found that some principles and guidelines are considered in the training processes through discussions on social rights, territorialization, interdisciplinarity, for example. However, more specific discussions about social assistance are absent, with health policies being more frequently covered in training.
