Abstract

The Maria da Penha Law reflects the need to address gender power dynamics, where the male perpetrator of violence often challenges the security measures intended for the woman. The persistence of these resistances, rooted in patriarchal structures throughout history, demands a contemporary analysis of evolving masculinity narratives. The emphasis of this study was placed on understanding the disobediences committed by male perpetrators of violence who violated judicial protective measures intended for women. The methodological choice was qualitative exploratory, and the material was collected through semi-structured interviews with seven participants finalized by theoretical saturation. Grounded Theory was used for the organization and analysis of the data, in which the codifications were established: "masculinity and disobedience" and "Maria da Penha Law and victimization." The findings indicated that male disobediences reveal themselves as manifestations of control over women, based on pretexts of gender hierarchy and male superiority, thus perpetuating a form of patriarchal and dominant masculinity. In conclusive terms, an exclusively criminal approach to these normative practices may be limited in its ability to promote significant changes, making it pertinent to incorporate psycho-reflexive proposals to stimulate deeper transformations. A promising strategy is to adopt a linguistic perspective that recognizes intersubjectivity in gender and power relations. This can be achieved through reflective groups aimed at male perpetrators of violence, where the theme of disobedience can be integrated with other reflective devices and psychosocial components.
