Physical exercise is recommended for health promotion and should be started from childhood. Motivation is associated with adherence to physical exercise, and it is important to evaluated this construct. The present study aims to identify which instrumens exist for the psyhological assessment of the motivation to practice physical exercise to children and adolescents, understanding their theoretical bases and their response formats. This is a systematic review of the Literature, which was searched in the databases Pubmed, PsycNET, Scielo, Pepsic, BVS, BVS Psicologia. The PRISMA protocol was used to systematize the study selection process and subsequent Analysis, totaling 44 articles selected from the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria. The textual corpus analyzed by IRaMuTeQ had a retention rate of 80.15% and generated 4 classes – Motivation Guidance (the most representative), Psychometrics, Differences in Motivation according to the public, and Motivation of athletes. The most udes instrument (cited in 13.33% of the studies) was the Sport Motivation Scale – SMS, translated and validated for Brazil. Most of the assessment instruments are focus in adolescents, with a predominance of the Likert-type response Style. The main theory used was the Self-Determination Theory. As for the adopted Psychometric procedures, Cronbach’s Alpha and Confirmatory Factor Analysis stand out as the most used. It is Perceived that there are gaps for the development of new instruments, with different statistical procedures Such as Item Response Theory and Network Analysis and with Other response formats, in addition to Likert.
