Abstract

The present study analyzed, through a systematic literature review, the impact of mindfulness practices on job performance and satisfaction, characterizing them and identifying the instruments used to assess their results. The search in the PubMed, PsycINFO, Web of Science, and Scopus databases returned 118 materials. After applying the inclusion criteria (articles available in full, written in Portuguese, English, or Spanish, and published in peer-reviewed journals investigating the relationship between mindfulness, job satisfaction, and job performance), we selected nine for complete analysis. We excluded one of them, resulting in a final sample of eight articles. The guiding questions addressed the relationship between mindfulness practices and job satisfaction and how mindfulness practices influence work contexts. The analyzed materials showed a positive relationship between mindfulness practices, job satisfaction, performance, resilience, and employee well-being. More specifically, they demonstrated that performing mindfulness exercises in the workplace can increase employees' self-awareness and alertness, showing more significant development regarding focus and calmness in the present moment. Mindfulness improves self-awareness, alertness, emotional and physical balance, concentration, memory, empathy, and self-awareness. In this way, it allows individuals to deal more effectively with the challenges and demands of the work environment and the stress, rumination, and depressive thoughts that can arise from this context.
