Abstract

Mental disorders are characterized by a set of symptoms, in a nosological framework with mutually exclusive categories that do not allow a totalizing view of human suffering. In view of the phenomenological and etiological heterogeneity of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), its degrees of evidence and clinical limits have been questioned. Based on the criticism that exposes the relative validity of diagnostic classifications, the present study aimed to promote the analysis of possible transdiagnostic dimensions in ADHD and the reflection between the categories established by the manuals and the transdiagnostic field, through the methodology of integrative review. Eleven studies were analyzed, through which frequent comorbidities were found, especially between ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Among the possible transdiagnostic dimensions are psychological processes and symptomatological characterizations. The findings corroborate the heterogeneity of ADHD, as well as the impossibility of its homogenization, since closed categories do not comprehend the complexity of psychopathologies.
