Abstract

We carried out an integrative review to identify instruments for the assessment of Shyness and Social Phobia among children and adolescents. On the Scielo and Pepsic databases we found 56 studies, which, through the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulted in the selection of 18 articles for the current review, covering the period from 2004 to 2018. We identified one instrument for the assessment of Shyness and 11 instruments for the assessment of Social Phobia. Additionally, we visualized the conceptual overlap of instruments that must improve psychometric properties. We contributed to the systematization of the evidence generated by the instruments, reinforcing the research and assessment practices of Shyness and Social Phobia, especially in childhood and adolescence, due to the potential negative effects connected to mental health that the inadequate screening of Shyness and Social Phobia may cause to the development of children and adolescents.
