Abstract

The primacy of reason for human beings isolates and limits them in their history, from birth to death. Analytical psychology presents itself as a reaction against the exaggerated rationalization of consciousness, which leads to feelings of random existence and meaninglessness. A characteristic of consciousness is to discriminate and differentiate subject and object, a discrimination that occurs both in concrete life and in the internal world. This internal other, which we will call the archetype, wants to be recognized and made aware. The encounter between the ego and the self, studied by the analytical psychology of Carl Gustav Jung, presents itself as a parallel to the experience of the numinous, very present in religious studies, a theme that has great relevance in Jung's psychology. The presentation of this study was divided into three topics; firstly, a reflection is made on the concept of archetype from Jung; then, the analytically oriented psychological interpretation of the archetype of the Trinity is studied and, finally, the possibilities of meeting the ego with the self are discussed. The importance of the process of awareness of the unconscious is such that it can be considered as a condition for the possibility of encountering the meaning of life.
