Focus and Scope
Mission
To disclose scientific researches in the field of Social Communication, prioritizing text that present the result of practical or theoretical researches conducted in Brazil and/or in other countries, focused on contemporaneous communication and its social, technological, and management effects.
Objective
To encourage scientific discussion on emergent themes in Social Communication, especially with respect to the new technologies and changes in communication processes.
Vision
Revista de Estudos da Comunicação intends to become a benchmark for Social Communication in Brazil within the scope of research, with an aim to become international, while being attentive to the social, technological, and management changes in communication. Its scope includes monitoring the development of PUCPR’s Stricto Sensu research, among other Brazilian and foreign universities, in terms of building scientific knowledge in the field of Social Communication.
Focus
Revista de Estudos da Comunicação’s approach has a focus on the trends of contemporaneous Social Communication and their social, technological, and managmente effects. Topics associated with the following Lines of Research are especially interesting:
1) Communication Management and Technologies
Studies on technological interventions, within their cultural, social, and economic scopes, in communication practices. Organizational or marketing communication in private, governmental, and non-governmental institutions, or collaboration networks.
2) Media Environments and Culture
Studies on the cultural production and its relationships with the media context. They involve creation, production, reception, consumption, and appropriation. The following are topics of interest: forms of expression, mediations, hybridism, convergences, and ruptures.
Peer Review Process
With respect to issues associated with copyrights, Revista Estudos da Comunicação recommends that all articles analyzed for publication meet the ABNT standards.
Authors must also post in the submission system a statement of originality of the research to be analyzed by the referees.
Researches involving interviews, the application of questionnaires, or images that identify people in private situations, or which could be considered derogatory must present authorizations to use the name, statements and/or images.
Articles presenting researches involving human beings must promote, protect, and value the subjects in the research, ensuring that the publication can “treat them with dignity, and respect their autonomy”.
Publication Frequency
Revista de Estudos da Comunicação is a four-monthly publication. It publishes an average of eight scientific articles per issue.
Open Access Policy
This magazine offers free immediate access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge available to the public at no cost results in an increased democratization of knowledge worldwide.
