About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Revista Estudos de Biologia, a periodical published by the Biological Sciences graduation course of the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR), created in 1978, publishes free original articles in Portuguese, in Spanish, and in English. Articles considered for publication are only those that are clearly motivated by a central question and which are associated with environmental diagnosis, intervention, and monitoring, including the preparation of protocols and methodologies that aim at the maintenance of environmental quality, or basic researches that can serve as a support to these purposes. All articles submitted must be unpublished, and their simultaneous presentation to other periodicals is prohibited.

Peer Review Process

It is indispensable that the instructions presented here are strictly followed during the preparation of the manuscript. If, after reading the instructions, you still have questions, do not hesitate in contacting the editor in chief. Manuscripts that fail to follow the standards will be immediately returned to their authors. Bear in mind that more than half of the submissions are returned without being seen by the revisers, which delays the publication process. If the authors wish to speed up the process, please carefully read and follow the instructions. Studies involving human beings or animals will be accepted for publication if they meet ethical principles (Resolution No. 196/96, of the National Health Council; PAIN international guidelines, 16: 109-110/1983, and Law No. 11.794/2008). The protocol must have been approved by an Ethics Committee and the number of the opinion report must be provided. Researches involving the collection or capturing of animals, whether in conservation sites, caves, or which involve threatened species, must meet Normative Instruction No. 154/2007 of Ibama, and include the number of authorization granted by the competent entities, as well as the depository collection and the reference record number.
