Abstract

Given the historical and contemporary context of Caritas in the Archdiocese of Londrina, the Catholic Church plays a fundamental role in promoting social action aimed at defending the human rights of Haitian immigrants, with a view to integrating these immigrants into society. In this sense, the aim of this research was to understand the role of the Catholic Church in promoting social action, focusing on the historical and contemporary context of Cáritas de Londrina, in order to analyze its contribution to defending the human rights of Haitian migrants. As a method, we used bibliographical and documentary research, of a qualitative nature, based on Caritas Londrina's own collection of reports from 2012 to 2022. The results obtained show that, through Cáritas de Londrina, the Catholic Church is working to integrate Haitian migrants into society in London and the metropolitan region. Through this process of integration, Caritas' activities aim to promote integral development and the defense of human rights. These actions extend to the local community, promoting cultural diversity and social inclusion.
