Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected psychological well-being across the planet. Investigations about the onset of obsessive behaviors and thoughts about the pandemic, although we lack validated instruments for those measurements. This research aimed to present evidence of validity of the COVID-19 Obsession Scale to a Brazilian population. 211 adults answered the Obsession Scale with COVID-19, a Self-Perception Questionnaire on Mental Health during the Pandemic, and demographic questionnaire. COVID-19 Obsession scale went through a process of cultural and semantic adaptation. The authors performed a factorial analysis through restricted modeling with simulation of the DWLS algorithm. Results show that the adapted scale has the same factors as the original scale, with adequate adjustment index and good factor loads. This scale can be a tool to investigate the obsession with the pandemic and its consequences with other mental health problems arising from COVID-19.
