Psychological assistance at a women's protection police station: experience report

Abstract

Violence against women is a public health and human rights problem, and women's protection stations are essential for identifying and handling cases. Considering the relevance of the topic, this article consists of an experience report regarding a supervised internship in health of a Psychology course, developed by final-year students, at a Women's Defense Station. The objective of the internship was to provide psychological assistance, through psychological duty, to women who were victims of violence or at risk, and who sought the services of the security institution. Based on the experience of the Psychology students in the interventions carried out, considering the challenges and potential identified, the need for improvement and advancement in this area of ​​psychologists' work was observed. Thus, the institutionalization of the internship proposal enabled victims to access emergency psychological care, contributing to the development of protection networks for women in situations of violence. Furthermore, it was noted that it is important to improve the perception of professionals working in this context in terms of understanding the relevance of psychological support as a tool to promote protection, attention and care for women who are victims of violence.

Psicóloga graduada pela Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba, Mestra e Doutora em Psicologia pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação Stricto Sensu da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas com ênfase em Avaliação Psicológica, Especialista em Terapia Cognitivo Comportamental pelo Instituto de Psicologia e Controle do Stress - IPCS e Especialista em Desenvolvimento do Potencial Humano nas Organizações pela PUC-Campinas. Foi colaboradora do LAMP - Laboratório de Avaliação e Medidas Psicológicas da PUCCAMP no grupo de pesquisa Avaliação Psicológica do Potencial Humano. Atualmente é parecerista ad hoc do Sistema de Avaliação de Testes Psicológicos (SATEPSI). Tem experiência em Psicologia Clínica e Avaliação Psicológica no atendimento de crianças, adolescentes e adultos. Atualmente é coordenadora e professora do curso de Psicologia do Centro Universitário Salesiano de São Paulo - UNISAL.
