Abstract

The present study aimed to discuss the influences of ethical-political suffering on the experiences of the LGBTQIA+ population. Using a qualitative exploratory methodology and an online questionnaire, we identified several forms of violence that affect the LGBTQIA+ experience, especially psychological violence. These forms of violence contribute to the manifestation of ethical-political suffering, which is intensified by intersectionalities and is expressed mainly through the repression of desires and affections in different contexts, as well as the repression of circulating between spaces freely. The mental health of the LGBTQIA+ population is largely affected by social injustices, resulting in suicidal ideations and ethical-political sufferings. These findings highlight the importance of deepening the discussion on the topic in question.
