Abstract

Violence against women is a psychosocial phenomenon that takes into account psychological as well as sociais aspects. The present study aimed to analyze the relationship between emotional dependence and general violence (encompassing the various aspects, physical, emotional and sexual), moderated by anxiety and perceived family support in university students, based on the Theory of Traumatic Bonding. Participants were 225 female university students, with an average age of 24.7 (SD = 7.11), female (99.0%), cisgender (98.5%). The results were a positive flu of general violence with emotional dependence and anxiety symptoms, a negative fever with perceived family support. It has also been shown that emotional dependence has direct effects on general violence. In addition, it has also been shown that anxiety is a moderator of the relationship between emotional dependence and the acceptance of general violence. That is, as much as women may be emotionally dependent, if they do not have symptoms of high anxiety, they may not accept general violence. It is concluded that the anxious were influenced in keeping women in abusive relationships, given that the period of social distancing also aggravates cases of psychological disorders.
