Abstract

The social isolation resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the indicators of violence against women. The objective of the study was to carry out a bibliometric research on the scientific production of publications referring to violence against women in the COVID-19 pandemic. Scientific articles published between March 2020 and April 2021 in the Bireme, Web of Science, Pubmed and Science direct databases were included. The inclusion of 54 articles allowed analysis in categories: types of articles, country of origin, language of publication, productivity and collaboration index. Most of the articles are from South America and published in English with three or more authors. Regarding the types of articles, rapid communication (n=21), documentary (n=16), empirical (n=6), narrative literature review (n=5), systematic review (n=2), integrative review ( n=2) and theoretical (n=2). There are studies on the beginning of the pandemic verifying the increase in violence against women, the profile of victims, cases of femicide, coping strategies and the role of protection networks. Empirical research on pregnant women in situations of violence and qualitative studies on the experiences of women. It is likely that over the first year of the pandemic, the concentration of studies in the format of rapid communications occurred due to the urgency of responses to the situation of violence against women. It is suggested the continuity of bibliometrics to accompany scientific production, throughout the pandemic period, seeking to carry out comparisons to enable actions in the governmental spheres.
