Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the scientific production of instruments that assess the feeling of guilt of family caregivers of people with dementia. Through an integrative literature review, articles were searched in the databases of Web of Science, PubMed and AgeLine, in a time frame from 2002 to 2022. 10 articles were analyzed, of which 3 instruments on the feeling of guilt were identified. The most used scale was the “Caregiving Guilt Questionnaire” and the most frequent sample of the surveys was female, children and care recipients diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. It is concluded that the psychometric scales on the feeling of guilt allow broader explanatory models about the mental health of the caregiver, however, longitudinal studies and more research on the development and validation of scales on guilt in different cultures are necessary.
