Abstract

The objective of this project is to present some impacts that society has experienced during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, from a metapsychological point of view of psychic suffering. The core of the proposed investigation is the impossibility of performing rituals instituted by society and how this impossibility makes it difficult to associate the loss, whether real or symbolic, as well as to understand how much these losses have generated exacerbated suffering, such as sadness, fear, anguish, helplessness. and incompleteness, which can lead to a state of unending grief. Furthermore, such losses can lead to other pathologies such as the increase in depression, previously considered significant in society. For the scientific basis of this analysis, the Systematic Literature Review is adopted as a methodology, which consists of the search for articles in the BVS-PSI and SciELO databases, published between the years 2019 and 2022. Therefore, the descriptors were determined: COVID-19, grief and depression. Under this bias, we seek to encourage debate and scientific knowledge on current and extremely relevant topics, not only for psychology, but for the entire scientific community.
