Abstract

The present article aims to understand the adaptations that were necessary in a Specialized Police Station for the Protection of Children and Adolescents to deal with violence against children and adolescents in the context of COVID-19. As a methodological strategy, interviews were carried out with 2 psychologists and 3 police chiefs and a thematic analysis of the professionals' speech content. There was an impact on the number of complaints due to social isolation due to COVID-19, but the interviewees could not specify whether there was a decrease in the occurrence of violence or if there was only a damming of data. Furthermore, the importance of the school as an important partner in denouncing violence against children and young people is affirmed, since it was a space in which they found support. Also, as seen in data from other bodies of the Rights Guarantee System, much of the violence suffered by children and adolescents is of a sexual nature, perpetrated by those who live with or close to the victim, something that has raised concern about social isolation in the presence of these alleged abusers. Finally, we suggest the creation of a standardized flow of referrals beyond judicial measures, as well as studies that investigate the psychological impacts on children and adolescents victims of violence, who were more anxious for professionals.
