Abstract

Considering the importance of continuing to reflect on human freedom, this paper aims, through a bibliographical study, to present the idea of freedom in two authors: Viktor Frankl and Carl Rogers. From the presentation of the main aspects of the theories developed by both authors and the visions of man underlying them, we tried to understand the understanding of human freedom in both perspectives. Among the main results achieved, we saw that Frankl understands freedom as a fundamental characteristic of the noetic dimension of man, which is constituted on the possibility of distancing himself from his psychophysical and social condition, positioning himself in a free and responsible way. In Rogers, on the other hand, we noticed a conflict between his defense of human freedom and his belief in an inherent tendency to growth, which seemed to us to condition the freedom of choice about which he speaks.
