Abstract

Prostitution is one of the oldest professions in the world, but it is still marginalized today. This phenomenon can influence the support networks of professionals, weakening and affecting their mental health. Thus, the objective of the study was to identify the social perceptions of sex workers and verify the relationship with mental health through interview, the Self Report Questionnaire and Ecomapa. Three of the four participants had symptoms sufficient for common mental disorders, most components of the support network were considered moderate and fragile, and the subjective senses of the participants indicated feelings of distrust and helplessness.
