Abstract

This article establishes substantial connections between the content of a conciliar key document regarding the Church’s relations with non-Christian religions — the “Declaration on the Church’s Relations with Non-Christian Religions” Nostra Aetate, and other documents produced by the Second Vatican Council. The focus lies on the perception of passages that complement the message and orientation provided by Nostra Aetate. These passages demand respect for different beliefs as an integral aspect of human dignity, highlight the value of interreligious dialogue, underscore the importance of understanding other cultures and religions from a missionary perspective, recognize the salvific elements present in religions outside the Church, acknowledge the potential for salvation inherent in all human beings, offer a nuanced and inclusive view of Judaism and Islam — but assert the Church as the “ultimate path” to salvation.
