Abstract

According to Yves Congar, until the Second Vatican Council, Western theology largely neglected the Holy Spirit. The difficult process of overcoming a Christomonism—where everything was viewed and demonstrated in light of the centrality of Jesus—significantly delayed theological reflection on the Spirit and His action in the world. In the Latin American context, following the Second Vatican Council and the recovery of human centrality and the category of history, reworked through the hermeneutics of Latin American Liberation Theology (TdLib), theologians have taken on the task of developing a Latin American Pneumatology. This article, particularly aimed at researchers and those interested in the thought of José Comblin, seeks to systematically present the main elements of the theological articulation and construction that shape Pneumatology. Furthermore, it explores the original way in which Comblin proposes to elucidate how the Holy Spirit acts and structures History, the Church, and Christian praxis.
