Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present the proposal for Systemic Bioethics and bring to reflection the theories on which the term was based, aiming at the possibility of contributing to bioethical reflection and praxis. The aim is to answer the question: how to approach bioethical dilemmas based only on a certain paradigm? Therefore, authors discuss the fundamentals of Bioethics, Systems Theory and the complex thinking that permeates it. The study has as general objective: to analyze and present theoretical foundations for the proposal of the Systemic Bioethics paradigm, in the context of humanization in health sciences. Two specific objectives were selected: to correlate knowledge on Bioethics and Systems Theory; outline the draft for the paradigm of Systemic Bioethics. As for the methodology, the research is theoretical, bibliographical and documentary in nature, being exploratory and descriptive, using a qualitative approach, with the purpose of understanding, discussing and describing the proposed themes, contemplating the listed objectives, justified by being a theoretical deepening based on the thesis previously defended by the author. The bibliographic review and data analysis were carried out on the bases of the Capes Periodicals Portal, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Virtual Health Library (BVS), using the terms: systemic bioethics, researched in the last 10 years, (2011 to 2020). No publications were found with the searched terms, which leads us to consider this proposal as an unprecedented theme, although authors use the terms separately. Systemic Bioethics proposes the conception of “parts for the whole”, confirming its theoretical origin and reframing the slogan of systemic thinking that “the whole is more than the sum of its parts”.
