Abstract

The Catholic Church is experiencing a synodal process that aims to deepen relationships of communion, participation and mission, ensuring synodality as constitutive of its identity and structural organization. This article seeks to verify the ecumenical implications of this synodal process, verifying how ecumenism is presented in the synod's guiding documents on synodality. The thesis presented here is that synodality and ecumenism are mutually required, so that there is no complete synodality without communion in the Christian faith with the different churches. The method used is document analysis. And among the conclusions, the research found that the the call to a synodal conversion of the Roman Catholic Church is one of the main impulses of ecumenism in the magisterium of Pope Francis.
