Abstract

Paul's letter to the Romans addresses several themes considered fundamental to theology, serving as a reference for the development and consolidation of much of Christian dogmatics. This article aims to analyze the relevance historical and theological influence of the letter to the Romans for the Christian tradition, highlighting fundamental themes of the letter for theology and the performance of the contemporary Church. The approach was developed based on consulting documents, books and articles by theologians and biblical commentators who make important contributions to the research proposal, such as Martin Luther, Klaus Haacker, James D. G. Dunn, John Stott, Ricardo W. Rieth, Konrad Schmid and Jens Schröter, among other people who have dedicated themselves to the study of the letter or who have worked on relevant historical and theological aspects, serving as a reference for the elaboration of the article and who help to highlight aspects relevant to current reflection on the letter to the Romans.
