O Egito e o Levante: um olhar a partir da arqueologia doméstica

Resumo

A relação entre o Egito e o mundo bíblico foi explorada, sobretudo, a partir das evidências escritas, com enfoque no texto bíblico. Contudo, nas últimas décadas, o desenvolvimento da arqueologia do antigo Israel e as transformações historiográficas no campo abriram novos caminhos de pesquisa. Para além das mudanças políticas egípcias e da expansão ou contração de suas fronteiras, a cultura material do espaço doméstico oferece uma perspectiva sobre os contatos entre povos que considera os processos de negociação social. Este texto examina os contatos entre as populações do Egito antigo e do Levante a partir da cultura material proveniente do contexto doméstico, buscando oferecer um panorama que evidencia a complexidade das relações entre diferentes comunidades e desfaz visões monolíticas sobre o antigo Egito e o Levante durante a Idade do Bronze e a Idade do Ferro.

Thais Rocha é historiadora e egiptóloga (Oxon). É professora de História Antiga na Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brasil, e pesquisadora visitante no Harris Manchester College, Universidade de Oxford.  Em 2023, foi pesquisadora visitante na Universidade de Cambridge e na Universidade de Viena, colaborando com o Arscan/HAROC (CNRS) em Nanterre. É coordenadora do Núcleo de Egiptologia Brasileira (NEB/UFMG), Laboratório do Antigo Oriente Próximo (LAOP/UFMG) e do Mudraya.
