Resumo

The article examines the issue of the discrepancy between art and philosophy, starting from Heidegger’s reading of Nietzsche, and more specifically from the 1936–37 lecture course The Will to Power as Art. After briefly recalling the importance of Nietzsche for Heidegger’s reflections on art and following Heidegger’s reconstruction of Nietzsche’s aesthetics, the focus shifts to what both Nietzsche and Heidegger call Zwiespalt—the discrepancy, precisely, between beauty and truth—an element of tension and interplay between the properly philosophical and the artistic dimensions. In conclusion, the article asks whether and how this insight might still be useful today, beyond Nietzsche and Heidegger, for reinterpreting the relationship between the two spheres and disciplines.

Annalisa Caputo, University Aldo Moro Bari

Annalisa Caputo is an Associate Professor (Professore di seconda fascia) of Theoretical Philosophy (M/FIL-01), with habilitation as Full Professor (ASN 2016–2018, Fourth Round). Since 2019, she has been teaching Philosophical Hermeneutics in the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Philosophy at the University of Bari “Aldo Moro” (Department of Humanities – DISUM), and Hermeneutic Practices and the Teaching of Philosophy in the Master’s Degree Program.
From 2004 to 2020, she taught Languages of Philosophy in the same degree program, and from 2016 to 2019, she taught Didactics of Philosophy in the Master’s Program.
In 2013, she obtained national scientific qualification (ASN 2012 session) also in Aesthetics and Philosophy of Language (11/C4).
She currently serves as Chair of the Teaching Program PF60 in Philosophy and History (A19).

She is the founder and editor-in-chief of the international online, open-access, peer-reviewed journal Logoi.ph (www.logoi.ph), ranked Class A by ANVUR in Theoretical Philosophy, History of Philosophy, and Moral Philosophy.

Since 2015, she has been Secretary of the Italian Society for Theoretical Philosophy (SIFiT).

From 2019 to 2025, she has served as President of the Bari section of the Italian Philosophical Society (SFI), after being its Secretary for over 15 years.

Since 2025, she has been Secretary (and one of the founding members) of the Italian Scientific Society for the Teaching of Philosophy (SsiDiF).

Since 2019, she has been a member of the National Council for Philosophy (Consulta Nazionale di Filosofia).

She is the Principal Investigator of the project “Abbecedario della cittadinanza democratica” (Alphabet of Democratic Citizenship), funded in 2022 as an HES-Uniba initiative and presented as a Third Mission case study (VQR 2019–24).
Promoted by 20 faculty members (from 5 departments, 2 museums, 13 scientific areas, including 15 women), the project involved over two years: 4,000 school students (227 classes, 34 schools, from kindergarten to high school); 6 PhD candidates; 40 University of Bari students; and 20 partner institutions (https://abcdresearch.eu/it/).

She is a regular member of the international research group “Seminario Permanente Nietzscheano”, originally established within the activities of the former “Colli–Montinari Center”, and currently affiliated with the Italian Institute for Germanic Studies (https://seminarionietzsche.wordpress.com/membri-2/).
As an active member since January 1, 2015, she contributes to the organization and discussion of the group’s annual seminars and conferences, held in various Italian and European universities.

Since 2007, she has been a member of the Interuniversity Research Group “Seminario di Storia della Scienza” (University of Bari).

Since 2017, she has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Nuovo Giornale di Filosofia della Religione (New Journal of Philosophy of Religion).

Since 2025, she has been part of the Scientific Committee of the book series Filosofia del cinema (Mimesis Edizioni).

She serves as a reviewer for several academic journals, including:
Giornale di Metafisica, Questio: Annuario di Storia della Metafisica, Mechane Journal, InCircolo, and The Journal for the Philosophy of Language, Mind and the Arts.
